Day 9

Readings Luke 1:34-37, Psalm 98

(Musings on Mary...)

Mary asks a question and the angel answers.

Can you see Mary nodding her head along with his answer… like she really gets it.

“I’m a virgin, how’s this possible?”

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”

What she wanted to ask was “I’m a virgin, how is this possible?”

Whether or not she understood what was about to take place, she heard the words she needed to hear, “”nothing is impossible with God.”

As you read Psalm 98 imagine that this sort of Psalm was likely on Mary’s heart and lips as she pondered in the days to come what all of this would mean.

Father, we beg you to remind us often that “nothing is impossible with you” and that you never call us to something without providing what we need,

when we need it. May the words of this Psalm be on our lips today…Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; …

The Lord has made his salvation known… He has remembered his love and his faithfulness… all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God…

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music.
