Day 5

Readings:

John 1:11-13, Revelation 3:20, Psalm 72, Deut 18:15, Genesis 22:15-18

”He came to his own people, and even they rejected Him.”

When we place ourselves in the Jesus stories of the bible, we tend to see ourselves as the disciples and not those already in the religious system because, after all, it was the religious that seemed to miss what he was doing. Yet, if we’re honest, we see how simple it is to be wrapped up in a systems (social-political-economic-religious-etc) where Jesus is just standing on the outside waiting to be let in.

Do we want the faith, like Abraham, to hear and follow a voice calling us to a radical change, and more complete worship?

What might it look like for you to go all in this advent season? To withhold nothing as Abraham did. Not being busier, piling on commitments, and doing more, but making space, focusing energy on what you truly value more, and in doing so, worshiping more.

Father, I’m not even sure I know how You are calling me to worship You this season. Tune my ears to hear the door knocking so I can more fully receive You in, and bask in Your light. Amen.
