Readings:Matt 2:9-12, Psalm 126
Have you felt the anxiety of these days we live in; some wondering if they will keep their jobs, and others wondering if they will lose their homes. Gas prices go up and down, merchants struggle to survive, and even those seemingly unaffected still wonder when it all will hit them. Is there any hope?
The obvious answer is yes! In the story we celebrate today there is great hope. The King of the universe choose to unveil His glory through a poor unwed teenage mom. Born in an obscure village to seemingly nomadic parents. Nobility wrapped in rags? Where’s the hope?
The hope is in the reminder that there is no hope in the things and the stuff that so many are losing. The hope is in nearness of the God who took on our flesh. Our hope is that He came once and will come again.
What we have waited for has arrived. What all of creation, even unknowingly, has longed for is finally here.
So celebrate… dance… sing… shout… laugh… cry… enjoy.
The light of Christ has broke into humanity’s darkness.
Father we bless you for meeting our need. Jesus we love you for surrendering so much. Spirit we are so grateful that you have come to stay.
Today we rest in you and intend to enjoy that Your favor rests on mankind. Peace.
