Who do these 3 guys think they are anyway? Astrologers from a distant land? They clearly weren't devout Jews living in Jerusalem, Judea, or Samaria. What gives them the right to intrude into this story?
These are clearly outsiders looking in (or at least up), right? None the less, God brings them into His story by entering into their world in a way that they could understand... the stars. And then they, never abandoning the task they were called to, follow the star. The audacity! In fact the bible is full of stories about apparent "outsiders" that are the one's who really seem to get it. Maybe we need to stop thinking that we're "in", and they're"out" and realize that God's story is bigger than we can imagine!
Father, we don't want to miss you. And we definitely don't want to reject you.
Help us to keep our eyes on you, be willing to listen, and follow. Amen
