Readings: Luke 2:16-20 and Psalm 72

Such simple and profound phrases…

“So they hurried off.”

Such anticipation and excitement. Could it be at last that their hope of all hopes was suddenly a reality.

They are rushing off to see and touch the stories they had heard from their childhood.

“They spread the word.”

The most natural thing was for them to open their mouths and speak of what they had seen.

They hadn’t been to classes on how to formulate their thoughts, they simply told of what they had seen.

“Things were just as they were told.”

What else could be. God had spoken and His plan was in motion… and surprise of all surprises,

things were as they ha ad been told.

Might we be filled with similar urgency, boldness and confidence. Might we pursue, engage and trust with similar abandon.

Father, birth in us passion that leads to action. Fill us to overflowing that we could not sit, could not remain quiet and could not trust
