Day 1

Readings: John 1:1-2, Philippians 2:5-11, Psalm 8, Micah 5:2, Gen 3:15

The story starts at the beginning…

You see, the story doesn’t start with the Wise Men, with the Shepherds in the fields, with the baby in a manger. It doesn’t start with a shocking conversation between a young girl and an angel and it doesn’t start with the prophets writing of a day of hope that would eventually come.

It starts in the beginning.

“In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” (john 1:1-2) That’s the story. Jesus was with God in the beginning and He “being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” (Phil 2:6-7)

God became man… Emmanuel… God with us. That was the plan and that is the story.

Father, I ask the enormity of your eternal plan overshadow my small world. I ask that I might be consumed with wonder and gratitude that Jesus chose to enter our world, take on our flesh that His light would break into our darkness. Thank You!
